Have a scout around in the App Store - I think there are some mapping apps in there that can open GPX files.

Thanks Steve, good to know; would be nice to have it as an automatic option on the iPad though.

I use the iPad for 99% of my planning, research, etc., only going to a desktop as a last resort.

You can just about do this now with a small bit of jiggery-pokery albeit not directly on your iPad.

E-mail the route to yourself. Attached to the e-mail will be a .flightplan file and a .gpx file.

You can then use GPS Visualizer to convert the GPX file into a link which can be opened in Google Maps or Google Earth.

We can select a town, waypoint etc and then view it on the maps app. Would it be possible to overlay a route onto maps also?
